Doda Bus Accident: In addition to expressing his condolences for the families of the deceased and the injured, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PM’s National Relief Fund to each of the deceased’s next of kin and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

Prime Minister’s Condolences

“The bus accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir is distressing. My condolences to the families who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest,” the Office of the PM posted on X. Tweet added, “An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. Rs 50,000 would be given to the injured.”

Tragic Bus Accident in Doda

Today in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, a bus plunged down a gorge, resulting in 36 fatalities and 19 injuries. In a post on X, Union Minister Jitendra Singh verified the 36 fatalities and stated that six injured individuals were listed as very ill. In a statement, Home Minister Amit Shah offered his sympathies and stated that the local government is actively participating in the rescue effort at the accident scene. The accident happened when the 55-person bus, travelling from Kishtwar to Jammu, swerved off the road and tumbled down the highway’s steep slope close to Trungal in the Assar region.

Minister Jitendra Singh’s Update

“Saddened to share the update from DC Doda Harvinder Singh from the spot of the accident. Unfortunately, 36 persons have died and 19 injured, out of whom 6 injured are serious,” Minister Singh posted on X. The injured are being moved to Government Medical College Doda, according to the Union Minister, who also mentioned that he had a conversation with Harvinder Singh, the Doda District Commissioner.
