Doda Terror Attack: On Tuesday, the Indian Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, briefed Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh about the prevailing operations and ground situation in Doda, J&K. FOUR Indian Army Soldiers—including an officer—have been killed in action in the Doda area of Jammu and Kashmir following an altercation with militants.

Tragic Loss in Doda Encounter

“Four Indian Army Soldiers including an officer have been killed in action during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda area. The operations are still going on,”Defence officials said.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh expressed strong concern over the armed encounter in the Dessa area of district Doda. The officials were reported to be saying that a search operation was launched jointly by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir police following a gunfire exchange with militants in the district’s Dessa area on Monday night. They further claimed that more troops had been summoned in to strengthen the perimeter.

Congress Criticism on Recent Terror Attacks

Congress, which is playing the role of opposition in the country, has cornered the present government after the terrorist attack in Doda. Releasing the report card of the present government, Congress has written that “In the last 38 days, 9 terrorist attacks took place in which 12 soldiers were martyred while 13 soldiers were seriously injured. Apart from this, 10 innocent civilians died in these terrorist attacks while 44 local citizens were injured.”

Rahul Gandhi Tweeted, “Today, our soldiers were martyred in another terrorist encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. I pay my humble tribute to the martyrs and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families.Such horrific incidents one after the other are extremely sad and worrying. These continuous terrorist attacks are telling the dilapidated condition of Jammu and Kashmir. Our soldiers and their families are bearing the brunt of BJP’s wrong policies.”

He added, “It is the demand of every patriotic Indian that the government should take full responsibility for the repeated security lapses and take strict action against the culprits of the country and the soldiers. In this hour of grief, the entire country stands united against terrorism.”

AK-47 Bullets and Grenade

Rusted and old weapons and ammo were recovered earlier on Monday by Jammu and Kashmir Police from a terrorist hideout in the Reasi area of the state. The recovered materials include thirty AK-47 bullets, one AK-47 rifle magazine, and one HE-36 hand grenade. This becomes in the face of past, especially terror acts that have already been conducted in the region of Jammu, including that on the army convoy at Kathua and the encounters at Doda and Udhampur in Jammu.
