Doda Terror Attack: In a heart-wrenching yet proud moment, Colonel Bhuwanesh Thapa (retd), the father of Captain Brijesh Thapa, who lost his life in a fierce encounter with terrorists in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, shared his thoughts on his son’s sacrifice. Reflecting on his son’s dedication to the nation, Col. Bhuwanesh Thapa expressed immense pride while speaking to ANI.
Remembering Captain Brijesh Thapa
Recalling his son’s passion for the Army, Col. Thapa said, “I couldn’t believe it when I heard he was gone. From childhood, he wanted to join the Indian Army. He would wear my Army uniform and walk around proudly. Even after completing his engineering, he was determined to serve the nation. He cleared the exam in one attempt and joined the Army. I feel proud that my son has done something significant for the country’s security. The only sorrow is that we won’t see him again, but I’m happy he sacrificed his life for the country.”
Captain Brijesh Thapa’s mother, Nilima Thapa, also expressed her pride. “He was very decent. He always wanted to join the Indian Army. I feel very proud that he sacrificed his life for the nation.The government will take strict action.”
The Fierce Encounter in Doda
The deadly encounter occurred on Monday evening in the Desa Forest area. Security forces, acting on specific intelligence inputs, launched a joint operation with the JK Police. The firefight, which began around 9 PM, resulted in the tragic loss of four soldiers: Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra, and Sepoy Ajay.
The White Knight Corps confirmed the operation, stating that contact with the terrorists led to a heavy exchange of fire, ultimately costing the lives of the brave soldiers.
National Leaders Express Grief
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his sorrow on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “Deeply saddened by the loss of our brave and courageous Indian Army Soldiers in a counter-terrorist operation in Urrar Baggi, Doda (J&K). My heart goes out to the bereaved families. The Nation stands firmly with the families of our soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. The Counter-Terrorist operations are underway, and our soldiers remain committed to eliminating the scourge of terrorism and restoring peace and order in the region.”
Congress leader and LOP in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi also paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, stating, “Today, our soldiers were martyred in another terrorist encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. I pay my humble tribute to the martyrs and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Such horrific incidents happening one after the other are extremely sad and worrying. These continuous terrorist attacks reveal the poor condition of Jammu and Kashmir. Our soldiers and their families are bearing the brunt of BJP’s wrong policies. It is the demand of every patriotic Indian that the government should take full responsibility for the repeated security lapses and take strict action against the culprits who harm the country and the soldiers. In this hour of grief, the entire country stands united against terrorism.”
