The Mumbai Police on Friday received phone call from an undefined person who claimed that bombs have been placed at four prime locations across the city.
The police received the anonymous phone call at around 8.53pm on the emergency 100 phone number. The caller claimed that four bombs have been placed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Dadar, and Byculla railway stations, as well as actor Amitabh Bachchan’s bunglow.
Police then launched an operation to trace the caller. However, when contacted again, as soon as the information was received. The person rebuffed the police and asked them to not disturb him. He has been arrested.
“I only shared the information that I had” said the person, and switched off his mobile phone.
Following a massive search operation at all the four locations, security agencies did not find anything suspicious
However, the bomb squad and police have been asked to stay on alert.
Senior officers of the Mumbai Police are monitoring the situation.
The railway police had also conducted searches at CSMT’s ticket counter, waiting area, stalls, and platforms after getting the information. Some parts of the railway station confirmed the Chief public relations officer (CPRO) of the Central Railway, Shivaji Sutar.
The Mumbai Crime Branch’s CIU (Crime Intellingence Unit) later updated that it has detained two people. They are being questioned in connection with the hoax phone call, office said.
