Army chief General MM Naravane over recent drone attack at the Jammu air base, has told that drones will increasingly be used both by state and non-state actors.
“Army is factoring in both offensive and defensive use of drones and counter drone systems,” General MM Naravane says also adding that there will be an increased focus on both kinetic and non-kinetic means.
“Easy availability of drones has definitely increased the complexity and challenges,” said General Naravane on the drone attack at Jammu Air Force station.
Army Chief General MM Naravane has said that new security challenges are emerging due to easily available drones.
In an event organized by a think tank, he said on Thursday that the agencies involved in the security system of the country are well aware of these challenges and many steps have already been taken to deal with it.
Talking about the recent drone attack on Jammu airport station, Gen Naravane said, “Whether it is nation-backed or nation-wide, the Indian Army is increasing its capability to deal with the potential threat posed by drones. .We are increasing our strength to reduce the threat of drones in every field.”
At the same time, regarding the India-Pakistan border, he said that in February, there has been no infiltration incident on the border since the two countries’ armies had agreed to maintain peace on the Line of Control.
He said that due to non-infiltration, the number of extremists in Jammu and Kashmir has also come down and anti-extremist operations are also decreasing.
He did not point to anyone but said, “Some elements try to destroy the peace process and development, but we have to counter them.”
“The ongoing anti-extremism operation and counter-infiltration campaign in Jammu and Kashmir is progressing strongly and these operations ensure that peace will prevail,” he said.
