TMC leader Tapas Mandal, who was summoned by the CBI in Kolkata earlier this month for questioning in the teacher recruitment scam, has named Kuntal Ghosh in the case. Know what is Bengal teacher recruitment scam
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had earlier arrested former Education Minister (TMC leader) Partha Chatterjee and unearthed a consignment of over Rs 100 crore in cash and assets. And now the ED is making such claims regarding Kuntal Mandal as well. However, the ED said that they are probing it.
The CBI and ED have been probing the West Bengal teacher recruitment case for months. Leaders of the ruling party TMC in Bengal have allegedly scammed over 100 crores from people seeking jobs as teachers and staff in government schools across the state between 2014 and 2021.
The CBI was directed in May last year to probe the recruitment of non-teaching staff (Group C and D) and teaching staff by the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) and the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education between 2014 and 2021. Allegedly, bribes ranging from 5 lakh to 15 lakh have been given to get jobs after failing in the selection test.
