The Regional Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation office in Ahmedabad is one of the largest in the country and is among those giving the maximum amount of pension.
Pensions are usually released for about 500 persons a month. In the month of June, this number doubled to more than 1,000. Of the 1,000 pensions released, 307 have been under the Prayaas Scheme which may be the highest in the country. Last month the number of pensions released under the Prayaas Scheme was just 70, reported Manoranjan Kumar, Regional Commissioner of the EPFO office in Ahmedabad.
On Thursday, pensions were given to the employees of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), Torrent Group, and Dudhsagar Dairy.
“Pension is an important scheme where we give a monthly pension to members who retire after a minimum of 10 years of service. Earlier, people used to face a lot of issues with regard to the submission of documents. The government launched this scheme to provide pension from the last day of the retirement of the member,” Kumar added.
The government of India established this programme to enable members to begin receiving their pension on the final day of retirement.
Over 500 employees have reportedly been given pensions under the Prayaas scheme so far by the Ahmedabad office. When questioned about whether the scheme’s statistics were lower than expected, Kumar responded that the scheme has just started. It will be simpler to release pension under the plan if documentation is filed on time by the organization’s responsible HR department.
