EPFO Updates: The regional Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation office in Mangaluru has set up a help desk for the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana. It has been set up in the EPF office specifically for helping marginal labourers to gain information about the pension scheme.
Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (PMSYM) Yojana is a voluntary contributory pension scheme formulated by the government of India, for workers in the unorganised sector.
Special camps will be organised on the premises of major establishments with their support, stated a release from N Gopalakrishnan, regional PF commissioner-I
All employees of the informal sector who meet the eligibility requirements are requested, by the commissioner, to visit the closest Common Service Centre, and enrol for the scheme. The help desk available at the EPFO office in Mangaluru will provide the necessary guidance.
A toll-free number, 1800-267-6888, may also be called for any clarification of doubts, or to ask questions regarding the scheme. The enrol requirements state that any worker in the unorganised sector, belonging to the 18-40 age group, whose job is casual in nature, with a monthly income of less than Rs 15,000, can enrol in this scheme.
The worker should not already be covered under any statutory social security schemes, such as the National Pension Scheme, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation Scheme, or the Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme, and they should not be paying income tax.
