Ola Electric’s founder and CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, took to a heated argument on X, formerly known as Twitter, with comedian Kunal Kamra over the service-related issues of Ola Electric’s S1 series electric scooters. The spat began when Kamra posted a picture of ola dealership with a row of dusty scooters waiting for service allegedly.

Ola Service Quality Concerns Raised by Kamra

Kamra’s post flagged service quality issues wherein such anomalies with electric scooters could put many daily wage earners and gig economy workers, who operate on two-wheelers for their livelihood, into a tight spot. “Do Indian consumers have a voice? Do they deserve this?is this how Indians will get to using EV’s?” he asked, tagging Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and the Department of Consumer Affairs.

So, it was open to comments from users who have had problems with Ola Electric scooters. This tweet elicited an online debate and brought forth grievances of customers with an EV manufacturer.

Aggarwal’s Sharp Response to Kamra

In reaction, Aggarwal fired back, “Since you care so much @kunalkamra88, come and help us out! I’ll even pay more than you earned for this paid tweet or from your failed comedy career.” Aggarwal then urged Kamra to “Or else sit quiet and let us focus on fixing the issues for the real customers.”

As Aggarwal’s tweet had counted over 170k views, many netizens bashed his style of writing and called it “arrogant,” saying that more attention should be given to customer service improvements rather than pointed online jibes. Users have expressed their grievances with owning an Ola scooter, the financial stress piling up within middle-class households as soon as new vehicles are leads to problems almost immediately after purchase.

During a telephonic interview with ET, Aggarwal said the company was expanding its service network and backlogs would be cleared soon. However, the exchange has sparked bigger discussions on customer service and how corporations should deal with criticism in the age of social media.
