There has been a tremendous explosion in a firecracker factory in Una, Himachal Pradesh. In this, 6 people have died, while more than 15 people have been burnt. Many people are reported to have been burnt alive in this accident. At present, a team of fire brigade and policemen is engaged in relief and rescue work on the spot.
According to eyewitnesses, the blast was so strong and horrific that the windows of nearby factories were shattered. According to information received from sources, there are 6 women among the dead and all used to work in the same firecracker factory. All the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital, some of whom are in critical condition.
This accident happened in a factory in Thaliwal Industrial Area. Administrative officers are camping on the spot. The fire has been brought under control. It is being told that this was an illegal factory.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal expressed grief over the incident and said that ‘heart is saddened to hear the news of those who lost their lives in an accident in Una, Himachal Pradesh. I pray to God for peace to all the departed, strength to the bereaved families to bear this loss and speedy recovery of the injured.’
Una Deputy Commissioner Raghav Sharma said that the incident took place in Bathu industrial area of Una district. He told that according to preliminary information, most of the people killed and injured are migrant laborers. Police and rescue personnel are at the scene.
