Sony TV has released a statement addressing the circulation of a fabricated video featuring its renowned quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati. The channel has reported the matter to the cybercrime cell and urges users not to share or propagate the false video, which includes a counterfeit voiceover of Amitabh Bachchan posing a defamatory question concerning Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
‘Fabricated’ version of KBC
The video in question, which Sony TV mentioned, was also shared by Ritu Choudhary, a member of the Indian National Congress. At first glance, it appeared to be a segment from the regular broadcast of Kaun Banega Crorepati. However, a notable discrepancy emerged when Amitabh Bachchan presented the question; the voice shifted slightly, and the lip-sync did not align with the audio in the video.
The video featured a question presented in the traditional Kaun Banega Crorepati format. It included a fabricated voiceover of Amitabh Bachchan delivering the question in Hindi, which inquired, “Which of these chief ministers is nicknamed an ‘announcement minister’ due to their false announcements?” The multiple-choice options provided were: Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, and Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel.
The contestant quickly selected Shivraj Singh Chouhan as their answer, and the fabricated voiceover of Amitabh Bachchan declared it as the correct response. The host then proceeded to explain why Shivraj Singh Chouhan earned the title of ‘Announcement Machine,’ which caused a hearty laughter from the live audience.
