The nationwide farmer-led ‘Chakka Jam’, or road blockade, commenced at noon on Saturday. Farmers protesting against the Centre’s contentious new farm laws were seen blocking roads and national highways in cities and towns across the country.
Farmers’ bodies are conducting a 3-hour ‘chakka jam’ across the country today, between 12 noon and 3 pm. However the farmers protesting at the Capital’s border have assured that they will not enter Delhi.
Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) is holding road blockades at 33 places in 15 districts including Sangrur, Barnala and Bathinda in Punjab.

Apart from Bastara toll plaza on NH-44, farmers have also blocked Karnal-Kaithal road in Nissing near Gurdwara, Karnal-Indri road at Ramba, Nilokheri-Dhand road at Nigdhu main chowk, Karnal-Assandh road near grain market, Indri-Garhibirbal road near Biana grain market, Indri-Kurukshetra road near Bhadson, Karnal-Jind national highway-709A at Peont toll plaza, Karnal-Dhand road at Kachwa, Karnal-Meerut road at Nagla chowk, Munak-Assandh near Ballah, and in Dupehri.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has closed the entry and exit gates at several metro stations, mainly in north and central Delhi, as the protesting farmers are observing chakka jam (road block) across the country.
The entry and exit gates of Mandi House, ITO, Delhi Gate, Vishwavidyalaya, Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, Janpath, Central Secretariat, Khan Market and Nehru Place are closed as a precautionary measure due to the protests against the new agriculture laws.
