Fatwa Against Chief Imam for Attending Ayodhya Ram Mandir Inauguration, Urges Detractors to ‘Go to Pakistan’

Ayodhya Ram Mandir

Ayodhya Ram Mandir: Days after attending the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, the Chief Imam of the All India Imam Organisation, has been the target of a fatwa. Although he was the target of a fatwa on Sunday, he informed the ANI news agency that he had been getting threats since the Ram Mandir event on Sunday night.

Imam Challenges Haters and Advocates Patriotism

The Imam responded to the fatwa against him by saying, “Those who love me, love the nation – will support me. Those who hate me for attending the ceremony should perhaps go to Pakistan.” Additionally, he said that a plot has been formed against him and that others are attempting to foster a “environment of hatred” against him.

The Imam is called a “Kaafir” and faces threats to his life in the fatwa issued against him. According to reports, Mufti Sabir Hussaini, who owns a facility called “Mufti classes,” issued the fatwa. Umer Ahmed Ilyasi told ANI that he thought about accepting the invitation from the Temple Trust for two days before deciding to travel to Ayodhya. The cleric added that he went “for harmony and for the country” and that it was the largest choice of his life.

Heartfelt Welcome and a Message of Unity

“I was invited in the capacity of Chief Imam of the All India Imam Organization, and I was heartily welcomed there. After attending the ceremony, I said that our beliefs can be different, but our biggest religion is humanity,” Ahmed Umer Ilyasi told India Today.

“They are giving death threats to me and my family, but I want to tell them clearly that India is not an Islamic nation where all these tactics will work. If they don’t like the message of love and brotherhood I am spreading, they should go to Pakistan,” he added.

Chief Imam Affirms Innocence Amid Fatwa Backlash

He added that he did not conduct any crimes and that he would not quit or apologise for attending the Pran Pratishtha event. “I have given a message of love,” added Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi. This is the first time that a fatwa against a Chief Imam has ever been issued in history. In reaction to the threats against him, Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi has lodged a complaint with the Home Secretary, the Home Minister, and the Commissioner of Delhi Police.
