Fog Update: The Indo-Gangetic plains are now experiencing a coldwave, that is yet to lighten up on the area. Although the intensity has slightly decreased, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh will still have to deal with the bitter cold and accompanying fog during the weekend.

The Indo-Gangetic plains will continue to see dense to extremely dense fog across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh for the next two days due to weak winds and high surface moisture, predicts the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Many areas of Rajasthan are expected to see coldwaves or severe coldwaves, while isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and west Uttar Pradesh will also experience coldwave conditions during the next 24 hours. For today, ground frost is also anticipated in Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana.

Delhi

The national capital was recklessly covered in the thick blanket of fog yesterday and today will be no different as well. IMD has visibility to be dropped up to 500 metres during the peak hours. Severe fog has already made travelling problematic since flight and train are getting significantly delayed.

Lucknow

As per the latest fog update, effect of fog will be similar in Lucknow as of Delhi. The intensity of fog will, though, decrease as soon as the noon draws near. IMD has predicted the visibility to be around 500 metres this morning. However, the effect is likely to change within a few days.

Amritsar

Like the rest of North India, Amritsar too is reeling under heavy fog and facing issues. Apart from low and chilly temperatures, IMD has predicted the visibility to be 400 metres in the morning. The effect of coldwave is expected to diminish in the upcoming days.

Jaipur

There will be shallow fog in the morning today, however, the day will become clearer once the noon approaches and there will be no sight of fog then. IMD predicts visibility to be around 800 metres this morning.
