Fog Update: In certain areas of Punjab, the rain is anticipated to momentarily relieve the cold wave and the haze. However, according to the meteorological agency, both cold temperatures and thick fog are expected to return on Saturday, January 14. During Uttar Pradesh and Bihar over the course of the next four days, severe to extremely dense fog is anticipated in the morning and evening. Between January 14 and January 16, a new outbreak of dense to extremely dense fog is anticipated in remote areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi.
According to the Railways Ministry, due to the numerous abrupt weather changes, hundreds of trains were either cancelled or delayed on Sunday due to severe fog and poor visibility across north India. Similar to this, several planes in Delhi and other airports in northern India had delays as a result of poor visibility.
Delhi
Foremost, little drizzle is expected to lash the national capital for today. IMD predicts that visibility will be dipped upto 100M during the early morning hours. However, this is likely to get better as noon approaches, however, it will be interesting to see how rain will impact the erstwhile cold conditions.
Lucknow
As per the latest fog update, Lucknow will continue to reel under thick blanket of fog today in the morning. Though, some relief is expected during the noon hours. However, in the early hours, the visbility is likely to be in the range of 100-200 metres.
Jaipur
After a couple of days of clear visibility, Jaipur will engulf in fog today as well. The morning is likely to be covered in the fog as IMD predicts the visibility to be 800M. Though, the temperature is likely to rise as coldwave is likely to abate.
Amritsar
Very dense fog is predicted for today’s morning in the Amritsar. Also, the visibility is likely to reduce up to 50M. Though, some respite is predicted as the noon approaches
An official notice has been made public stating that all schools up to and including class 8 have been closed till January 14. Students in grades 9 through 12 will take online courses, according to the announcement.
