After the incident the authorities imposed Prohibitory orders in the Cumbum area. Unfortunately the task force failed to implement the mission as the elephant moved into the deep forest. The Forest Department shifted the elephant to the Periyar Tiger Reserve which is 105 kms away from Idukki, but the elephant continued to travel from the place where it was released . It is assumed that the elephant may return to Chinnakanal if it crosses the Mathikettan Shola area
