Oomen Chandy passes away

Kerala News: Senior Congress leader and Former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy passed away after a Prolonged illness in a Hospital in Bengaluru. He was 79 years old. The veteran Congress leader was battling with cancer since 2019. His son shared the news of his demise through his Facebook page. The Kerala Government has announced two day state mourning and Public holiday.

Its difficult to bid him Farewell’

Oommen Chandy’s mortal remains will be flown to Thiruvananthpuram where his body will be kept for the people who can pay last respects to the Veteran leader. People can come and visit Darbar Hall and Secretariat and pay homage to the late congress leader. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also expressed condolences and said Chandy was a good administrator and was always involved in people’s lives. He shared some of his past experiences with Chandy saying, we both came to the same stage after our student life. It is very difficult to bid him Farewell.

He will always stay in People’s Hearts

Oommen Chandy introduced a Mass Contact Program during his tenure as a Chief Minister to hear the grievances of the common man and ensured them relief. His initiative was praised as a unique experiment where he met lakhs of people without any boundaries. The Program also received United Nations Global Award for Public Service in the year 2013.
