Bathinda Military Station: Early on Wednesday, four persons were killed in a shooting within Bathinda Military Station. The incident was “not a terror attack,” according to Punjab’s SSP. The four people who died were all from the 80 Medium Regiment. The event took place in the military station’s officers’ mess. All of the victims’ identities are being determined. The shooter was dressed normally.

Inside the military post, there were reports of a shooting incident at 4.35 am. “Inside Bathinda Military Station, at around 4.35 in the morning, a shooting incident was reported. Quick Reaction Teams for each station were activated. The area was blocked off and fenced off. Search operations are now underway. Reports indicate there have been four fatalities.” The Indian Army’s South Western Command stated that “more information is being ascertained.”
INSAS assault rifle vanished from the unit’s guard room
“No terror or fidayeen attack angle in this. Search is on for two people with weapons,” said Additional director general of police (ADG) Surinder Pal Singh Parmar. The firing incident “was not a terror attack,” said SSP Bathinda. “I don’t think this is a terrorist strike.” According to Punjab Police and intelligence sources, it appears to be a case of fratricide. The Bathinda Military Station’s artillery unit was where the shooting incident took place. Families are also residing there, according to sources. A few days ago, an INSAS assault rifle vanished from the unit’s guard room.

The Army Cantt in Bathinda has shut all of its entrances. One Insas weapon and its 28 cartridges went lost about two days ago. According to Punjab Police officials, this incident may have been caused by certain army men. Even police have not been permitted entry into Bathinda Cantonment, according to sources.
