Four-point action plan has been drawn up by airport operator DIAL

Traffic at airports has presented major problems in the recent past. Due to the increasing crowd at the airport, there has been pressure on the process and chaos has increased. The Civil Aviation Ministry has taken some steps to control the growing crowd. Some officials of the ministry had visited Terminal 3 of Delhi’s International Airport on Friday and inspected every passenger-baggage check point. In view of this problem, Delhi International Airport Limited or DIAL has taken several steps in the last two days.

What steps have been taken?

  1. Additional traffic marshals hired

Additional four traffic marshals have been appointed to keep the car lanes orderly and to control the vehicular jam. After this there will be a total of 12 traffic marshals on the ground.

  1. There will be two changes regarding the entry gate

Such posters will be put up, in which passengers will be made aware to be ready with boarding cards at the entry gate. Apart from this, eight employees will be deployed separately at the entry gate, who will help them.

  1. Extra Machine and Manpower

Extra X-ray machine has been installed in T3 Domestic. Extra staff will be kept in the aTRS area. Passengers will be told about do’s and don’t’s through awareness posters and mobile announcements.

  1. Discussion on reducing the number of flights

Flight can be reduced. In order to reduce the overall congestion, such discussions are going on with the airlines of DIAL to reduce the number of their flights in peak hours, such as 14 in T3, 11 in T2 and 8 in T1.

Air India has delayed long distance flights

Airline company Air India on Friday said that some long-haul flights are facing delays due to issues related to passes for entry into the airport. The airline is working closely with the authorities to resolve the matter. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) issues airport entry passes. This pass allows access to the airport to crew members, engineers, security personnel and other persons.

An Air India spokesperson said in a statement, “The operational problem has arisen due to the relatively slow pace of issuing passes to the crew members to enter the airport. This has delayed some of our North American flights. However, the airline did not elaborate on this.”
