From IRS official to Chief Minister of Delhi, his path demonstrates a dedication to public service and innovative administration in the fields of healthcare and education.

Arvind Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal Birthday: The Aam Aadmi Party will celebrate a special day today, being the birthday of their national convener and presently the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal. Born on August 16, 1968, in Bhiwani district, Haryana, his life and career remain synonymous with the spirit of public service and governance. The AAP chief received a lot of admiration and best wishes from his party leaders for this. Several leaders of the AAP, comprising former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Rajya Sabha MPs Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Minister Atishi, lauded the leader and wished him a long life. Birthday of CM Kejriwal must be moments of introspection regarding his movement—from an IRS officer to the Chief Minister of Delhi—and what this means for the governance of the city.

CM Mann Wishes CM Kejriwal

On the occasion of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal‘s birthday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has also issued a congratulatory message. A post has been issued from CM Mann’s official x handle that says, “Heartiest birthday wishes to the revolutionary leader and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal who has given a new direction to the country’s politics.”

Early Life and Career

Kejriwal’s move to political leadership was based on a strong academic base. Known for intelligence and hard work, he was a bright student who cleared the IIT entrance exam in the very first attempt and turned out to be a mechanical engineer from IIT, Kharagpur. He joined IRS in 1992 after cracking the UPSC exam. But his love and zeal to serve the mass, work for the desired change forced him to resign from his IRS job in 2006, where he committed himself to spreading the RTI Act among citizens to bring in transparency in governance.

After the Anna Hazare-Jan Lokpal agitation movement in 2011, Kejriwal’s social activism and involvement became quite public. The fight for a stringent anti-corruption bill movement resonated with the masses of India and finally made him take the political plunge. In November 2012, he founded the Aam Aadmi Party for leading a corruption-free and all-inclusive governance model.

Rise to Power

The way the AAP entered the politics of India was by contesting the Delhi Assembly elections of 2013. In a spectacular way, it managed a formidable performance but came short of an absolute majority, and Kejriwal was made the Chief Minister of Delhi with the support of Congress. He advocated and put in place a system of governance drenched with transparency, accountability, and welfare of the people, which the people of Delhi responded to enthusiastically. He led the AAP to massive electoral victories in the 2015 and 2020 Delhi Assembly elections.

Model of Kejriwal

The Kejriwal governance model has been the major change factor across Delhi’s landscape in the last decade. His government has been more focused on education, health, and public transport, thereby making these services much more available and easily affordable to the inhabitants of Delhi. Its towering success includes taking adequate primary health centers closer to the people under the head of Mohalla Clinics, as most important medical services remained out of reach for the majority of the people in the underserved parts of the city.

His government has made great efforts to raise the standard in education under government schools by improving infrastructure and the training of teachers, as well as by providing facilities for students. Government’s efforts have shown marked results, with an increase in the overall standard of education witnessed in Delhi.

Talking about education, the Kejriwal government has completely changed the condition of government schools in Delhi and today government schools in the capital have facilities like private schools. Kejriwal government has done a great job in the field of transport and has given the green signal to the scheme of free travel for women. Apart from this, keeping pollution in mind, efforts are being made to bring about continuous change by focusing on electric buses.
