G20 Summit: In response to rumours that the metro service in Delhi would be disrupted from September 8 to September 10 for security reasons related to the G20 Summit in New Delhi, a top official with Delhi Police on Monday (September 4) made it clear that only the Supreme Court metro station would experience disruptions, with service at all other stations remaining unaffected. The official stated that although some metro stations’ entry and exit gates would be closed for a short period of time, train service will not be interrupted.
Delhi Metro Services Uninterrupted Except at Supreme Court Station
“Delhi Metro services will be affected at the Supreme Court metro station only. Metro services will continue at all other stations. At some metro stations, entry/exit may be closed for 10-15 mins as per the security rules but train services will continue,” Surender Yadav, Special CP, Traffic, Delhi clarified at a press conference today. “The advisories issued by Delhi Police Traffic on August 25 in view of the G20 Summit remain unchanged. Essential services like postal and medical services will be allowed across the national capital. Commercial activities like Amazon delivery (except medicines) will not be allowed in the New Delhi controlled zone,” says SS Yadav, Special CP (Traffic), Delhi Police on G20 preparations.
Delhi Metro Entry/Exit Restrictions During G20 Summit
The entry and exit at several stations will remain restricted throughout the G20 Summit, according to earlier statements made by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). However, at certain stations, traffic will still flow through one or two gates during this time. The G20 Leaders’ Summit is scheduled for September 9–10 in New Delhi. During this time, prominent world leaders will visit New Delhi to take part in the massive event, including US President Joe Biden, who will visit India from September 7 to September 10.
