G20 Summit likely to Disrupt Train Services; More Than 300 Trains Affected? Here’s What You Need to Know

G20 Summit, which will be held on September 9–10, is likely to have an influence on more than 300 trains, according to a list published on Sunday by the Northern Railways. According to the Northern Railway, 207 train services have been cancelled, 15 train terminals have been modified, and 6 train routes have been changed.

Train Service Modifications for G20 Summit

In order to limit passenger disturbance, the official statement added that 70 trains, including the Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Rajdhani, Tejas Rajdhani Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Varanasi-New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani, had been assigned additional stopover stations. During the summit, three trains would not stop at Delhi’s Kishan Ganj, and the origin and termination stations of 36 trains have also been altered. According to a railway official who spoke to PTI, “People who have planned their travel during these days are advised to check the train timings and routes to avoid any inconvenience.”

Northern Railways Cancels 40 Trains for September 9-10

In light of the G20 Summit, the Northern Railways has said that it has cancelled 40 postal and express trains on September 9–10. The Northern Railways recommended customers to arrange their route appropriately while distributing the “Train Handling Plan.” “Keeping in view the security and other important arrangement for prestigious G20 Summit 2023 in Delhi Area, Railways have made ‘Train Handling Plan’ as under. The Passengers are requested to plan their journey on the dates shown accordingly,” the Northern Railway said in a post on X formerly Twitter.  

Other Routes Affected During G20 Summit

Sirsa Tilak Bridge Express has been suspended from September 9 to September 11, while the intercity trains between New Delhi and Rohtak Junction and Bareilly Junction have been suspended from September 8 to September 10. The Bhiwani-Tilak Bridge Express, Shri Ganganagar-Tilak Bridge Express, New Delhi-Virangana Lakshmibai (Jhanshi) Taj Express, and Meerut Cantt-Shri Ganganagar Special on September 9 and 10 are a few of the trains that have been cancelled.

G20 Summit Disrupts Train Services

On September 9 and 10, several other trains were cancelled, including the Saharanpur Junction-Delhi Junction Superfast Express, the Delhi Junction-Haridwar Junction Express Special, the Ambala Cantonment Junction-Delhi Junction Express, the Shri Gangangar-Delhi Junction Express, the Jalandhar City Junction-New Delhi Express, the Amritsar Junction-Delhi Junction Express, and the Lohian Khas Junction-New Delhi Sarbat Da Bhala Express.

Services Including Delhi-Kurukshetra Express Affected on Sept 9-10

On September 9, the Delhi Junction-Kurukshetra Junction Express would also not operate. On September 10, several trains were cancelled, including the Kanpur Central-Anand Vihar Terminal Express, the Anand Vihar Terminal-Kanpur Central Express, the Kurukshetra Junction-Delhi Junction Express, the Delhi Junction-Pathankot Junction Express, and the Pathankot Junction-Delhi Junction Superfast. The trains Kurukshetra Junction-Delhi Junction Express, Kanpur Central-Anand Vihar Terminal Express, Delhi Junction-Pathankot Junction Express, and Pathankot Junction-Delhi Junction Superfast are among those that have been cancelled. The G20 Summit will be held in Delhi on September 9 and 10 at the Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan. Throughout the summit, the attendees will also travel to Rajghat, the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), and the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa.
