Rishi Sunak’s Reverential Visit; An Hour of Devotion at Akshardham Temple

According to accounts, the pair visited the temple for almost an hour. Sunak entered the shrine barefoot, as is customary for Hindus to do while visiting a temple, according to Jyotindra Dave, director of the Akshardham temple. The director remarked, “After meeting him, we felt like he is ex tremely close to Sanatana.“Rishi Sunak had contacted us, asking to have darshan at the temple. He had asked us what time he could visit. We told him he could come whenever he feels like,” Dave said. “He performed aarti at the temple, met the saints here, also offered flowers to all the idols in the temple. His wife also performed the puja,” the director told India Today. “We showed him around and also gave him a model of the temple as a gift. He enjoyed every minute here.. His wife was also very happy. He said whenever I get a chance, I will keep coming,” the director added.

Enhanced Security Measures Surround Akshardham Temple Ahead of Rishi Sunak’s Visit

The security measures surrounding the shrine were strengthened in advance of their visit, and additional police officers were stationed there. Pickets, according to a senior police official, have been set up nearby. According to a statement he released on Saturday, a checking procedure is already in place in the city as a result of the ongoing G20 Summit. Sunak stated earlier on Friday that he had the opportunity to celebrate Raksha Bandhan but was unable to do the same for Krishna Janmasthami, so he planned to “make up for it” by going to a temple. “I’m a proud Hindu, and that’s how I was raised. That’s how I am. Hopefully, I can visit a Mandir while I’m here for the next couple of days,” he told the news agency ANI on the day he arrived in Delhi with wife Akshata Murty.
