Ghaziabad News: The groundwork for the launch of India’s inaugural RapidX train has been almost completed, with Prime Minister Modi expected to arrive in Ghaziabad on October 16 for the inauguration of the 17-kilometer corridor connecting Sahibabad to Duhai. This marks a significant milestone as it not only signifies the first regional RapidX train in Delhi-NCR but also in the entire country. The construction for the 82-kilometer-long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor have been underway since 2019, and all necessary arrangements for the inaugural phase of RapidX service on this corridor are now in place.
PMO to give go-ahead soon
UP CM Yogi Adityanath‘s ambitious project, the RapidX train is nearing completion, with Ghaziabad district administration officials receiving verbal notification of PM Modi’s upcoming program. Official details regarding program preparations will be shared once the PMO provides the go-ahead. The key distinctions between the RapidX train and the Delhi Metro, as well as information about boarding, luggage storage, and ticket purchase arrangements, will also be elaborated upon.
The initial plan for launching the RapidX train in June of this year had to be postponed due to work completion delays. However, the people residing in Delhi-NCR stand to reap significant benefits from its introduction, particularly those commuting to destinations like East Delhi, Ghaziabad, Sahibabad, Bulandshahr, Baghpat, Shamli, and Meerut, as it promises both cost and time savings along with relief from traffic congestion.
While the RapidX train has the capability to travel at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour, its current operational speed is limited to 100 kilometers per hour. Passengers can expect trains to arrive at each station every 5 to 10 minutes, and the service will only be halted for 6 hours during the night.
More stations to be constructed
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), responsible for overseeing RapidX operations, assures passengers of minimal waiting times. The frequency of trains will be adjusted based on passenger demand, with the possibility of increasing service frequency if passenger numbers rise and reducing trips if there is lower demand. Additionally, five stations along this route have already been prepared for operation.
The distance of 17 kilometers between Sahibabad and Duhai can be covered in a mere 12 minutes when riding the RapidX train, with an average operating speed of 100 kilometres per hour. The NCRTC has announced plans to initiate the operation of the RapidX train along the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor by the year 2025. This ambitious project had its foundation stone laid by PM Modi on March 8, 2019, marking a significant milestone in the development of the RapidX Rail system.
