International Yoga Day 2023: The world comes together via yoga to promote wellbeing, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also expressed his hope that it will continue to gain popularity worldwide. While he is in the nation, he will preside over the International Day of Yoga activities at the UN headquarters in New York on June 21. The President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Saba Korosi, will also take part in the event.

International Day of Yoga Promotes Global Awareness

The goal of the International Day of Yoga is to increase public awareness of yoga’s numerous advantages throughout the world. In honour of its enormous popularity, the United Nations proclaimed December 14, 2014, as the International Day of Yoga. Csaba Korosi, 77th session of UN General Assembly’s president Tweeted, “I am looking forward to participating in the 9th International Day of Yoga celebrations @UN with Prime Minister @NarendraModi at the UNHQ North Lawn next week.” PM Modi responded, “Looking forward to seeing you at the International Day of Yoga celebrations at the UNHQ. Your participation makes the programme even more special. Yoga brings the world together towards furthering good health and wellness. May it keep getting more popular globally.”

Promoting Physical and Mental Wellbeing

Writing to the Tweeter PM Modi said, “Yoga holds profound benefits for both body and mind, fostering strength, flexibility, and tranquility. Let us make Yoga a part of our lives and further wellness as well as peace. Sharing a set of videos depicting the various Asanas.” In 2015, the inaugural International Day of Yoga was observed. The UN, Times Square, and other well-known locations throughout the world have hosted a number of seminars and events showcasing its benefits and all-encompassing allure. Prime Minister Modi will visit the US from June 21 to June 24 at President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden’s invitation.
