The Goa government has announced the closure of schools and colleges on Monday in view of the increasing cases of corona in the state. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday chaired the meeting of the Task Force on Covid-19. Sawant told reporters that the Goa government would also impose night curfew. The Covid infection rate in Goa was recorded at 10.7 percent on Sunday. Shekhar Salkar, a member of the task force, told reporters in Panaji, “It has been decided to close the classes classes VIII and IX from tomorrow till January 26.”
Salkar told that the students of class 11th and 12th will have to come to school for Covid-19 vaccination. “Once they are vaccinated, they will not need to come to school till January 26,” he said.

Colleges in the coastal state will also be closed till January 26. Order regarding imposition of night curfew from 11 pm to 6 am will be issued on Monday or Tuesday.
He also said that the Covid infection rate in the state is around five percent and the cases of epidemic are increasing. But the rate of death and hospitalization due to this is very low.
According to official figures, 388 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Goa on Sunday. After which the number of infected in the state has increased to 1,81,570. Whereas after the death of one person, the death toll has reached 3,523.
