Before Diwali, the government has given good news to the central employees. The approval of the Union Cabinet has been given to increase the dearness allowance of central government employees and pensioners by 3 percent. This information has been received by quoting sources. Sources had said that today the Union Cabinet was going to discuss about the 3% increase in dearness allowance given to central government employees and pensioners, after which there are reports of a decision being taken in favor of the increase. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur will give official information about the decisions of the cabinet today.
After the approval of the cabinet, when this order will be implemented, after today’s increase, now the DA will be 31 percent. In July this year, the Union Cabinet had decided to increase the Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief (DR) rate for central government employees and pensioners by 11 percentage points from July 1. With this the new rate of DA was increased from 17 percent to 28 percent. At the same time, today with the increase of three percent in DA, the new rate of DA has become 31 percent that is central employees will get 31 percent dearness allowance of their basic pay.

These new rates will be applicable from July 1, 2021. This will be an additional 3% payable on the existing 28% of Basic Pay and Pension. This decision will benefit 47.14 lakh central government employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners. This will put a burden of Rs 9,488.70 crore on the central government exchequer every year.
