Major accident averted as goods train carrying LPG derails in Jabalpur in MP

Goods train derails: A major accident was averted Tuesday night after two wagons of LPG rakes from a goods train derailed when it was going to empty the rakes inside a gas factory in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district.

The incident happened near a Bharat Petroleum Depot at Shahpura Bhitoni station in the district.

Relief vehicle reaches the spot

Soon after getting information, railway officials reached the spot late at night along with the accident relief vehicle.

At least 275 lives were lost and over 1000 individuals were  injured in a train accident in Odisha’s Balasore on June 2. The accident involved three trains.

The Coromandal Express derailed after colliding with a goods train. Soon after another superfast train collided with the derailed coaches of Coromandal express. At least 17 coaches of the two passenger trains were derailed in the accident and severely damaged.

The railway officials said that preliminary investigations revealed the accident might have happened due to interference in the signaling system.

The Railways department had handed over investigations to the CBI.
