As covid situation in the country continues to improve, the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Tuesday announced to put in place the scheduled domestic air operations from October 18 with no restrictions of capacity.
An order from the Civil Aviation Ministry stated that “after review of the current status of Scheduled Domestic Operations viz-a-viz passenger demand for air travel”, the ministry has “decided to restore all scheduled domestic operations with effect from 18-10-2021 without any capacity restriction”.
“The airlines/airport operators shall, however, ensure that the guidelines to contain the spread of Covid are strictly adhered to and Covid appropriate behaviour is strictly enforced by them during the travel,” the statement added.
Currently, the cap on domestic flight capacity is at 85 per cent. Between July 5 and August 12, the cap stood at 65 per cent.
Meanwhile, India reported 14,313 new COVID-19 cases and 181 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry Informed on Tuesday. Of these, Kerala reported 6,996 COVID-19 cases and 84 deaths in the last 24 hours.
India conducted as many as 11,81,766 COVID-19 tests in the last 24 hours taking the total COVID tests conducted to 58,50,38,043.
