Vande Bharat Train: Indian Railways is preparing to launch not one, but five new Vande Bharat trains in an effort to increase the number of these trains. Soon, the tracks will be graced by these contemporary trains, which are manufactured by Chennai’s Integrated Coach Factory (ICF). Now let’s explore the specifics of these upcoming trains and their destinations.
Final Inspection Underway
The Railway Board is nearing completion on the routing of these 16-coach orange Vande Bharat trains. The inspection procedure is almost over, guaranteeing that these trains are in excellent condition before they go off on their voyage.
Impressive Production Milestones
ICF has a remarkable track record, having produced around 75,000 rail coaches in over 500 designs. For this financial year, ICF has ambitious plans to manufacture 3,515 rail coaches, including 1,536 LHB coaches and more than 650 Vande Bharat coaches. Currently, Vande Bharat trains are available in configurations of either eight or 16 coaches.
More Coaches and Metro Services
An ICF official has revealed that future Vande Bharat trains will feature 20 and 24 coaches, enhancing their capacity. Additionally, a test run of Vande Bharat Metro trains has already been conducted, showcasing the potential for future metro services.
Proposed Routes and Demands
R Pandiya Raja, a former member of the Regional Rail Advisory Committee of Southern Railway, has put forward several suggestions for new Vande Bharat routes. He has requested a Vande Bharat service between Chennai and Nagarcoil, as well as a route connecting Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram via Tenkasi. This would greatly benefit passengers traveling to Madurai and Trichy.
Seasonal Services for Sabarimala
Pandiya Raja also proposed increasing the number of Vande Bharat trains during the Sabarimala season. He suggests operating two rakes: one starting from Chennai in the morning and the other from Thiruvananthapuram at the same time. Furthermore, starting Vande Bharat services from Tirunelveli to Bengaluru would be advantageous for passengers from the southern districts.
