Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti 2022: The renowned warrior, poet, and spiritual leader Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Guru of Sikhism, was born on this day, and it is being commemorated. Every year, on the seventh day of the bright fortnight of the month of Pausha according to the Nanakshahi calendar, the Sikhs commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru.

Prakash Parv or Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti
The Sikh community enthusiastically and fervently commemorates the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh, their tenth Guru. Every year, this holiday is observed as Prakash Parv. Before the anniversary of their Guru’s birth, ferries are run from one location to another so that people can truly honour him and get a taste of his life. Gurudwaras have unique decorations. Rare facts about Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s life
- On December 22, 1666, Guru Gobind Singh was born, as indicated by the English calendar. Only on his birthday is Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is celebrated.
- On October 7, 1708, Guru Gobind Singh passed away. During the conflict with the Mughals, he was martyred. At the site of his martyrdom, which is today in Nanded, Maharashtra, Takht Shri Hazur Sahib has been erected.
- There were three wives for Guru Gobind Singh. At the age of ten, on June 21, 1677, at Basantgarh, he wed Mata Jeeto for the first time. He had three sons named, Zorawar Singh, Fateh Singh, and Jujhar Singh.
- On April 4, 1684, in Anandpur, Guru Gobind Singh married Mata Sundari for the second time, this time at the age of 17. Ajit Singh was his son by her.
- On April 15, 1700, Guru Gobind Singh wed for the third time in Anandpur, at the age of 33. Mata Sahib Devan was his wife. There was no child for them. He has effectively added to the Sikhism.
- On Baisakhi, Guru Gobind Singh founded the Khalsa Panth. He had mandated for Sikhs the wearing of five kakar hair, a bangle, a sword, a comb, and briefs.
- The Khalsa speech, “Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fatah,” was delivered by Guru Gobind Singh. Guru Gobind Singh ji designated Guru Granth Sahib to be the sole permanent Guru, abolishing the Sikh tradition of having a Guru named after oneself.
- For the sake of faith, Guru Gobind Singh ji sacrificed his entire family. His four sons, Baba Jujhar Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh, Fateh Singh, were killed in order to preserve religion.
