Guru Nanak Jayanti 2022: Every year, on the day of the Kartik full moon, people celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti. This year, the Jayanti falls on 8th of November. For those who practise Sikhism, this day is very special and holy. As Guru Nanak Dev was born on this day, it is also referred to as Guru Purab or Prakash Parv. He was born on Kartik Purnima in the year 1469. Because of this, on this day, several events, including kirtan, are held both domestically and overseas.

On November 8, 2022, people will celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti this year. The 553rd anniversary of Guru Nanak’s birth will occur this year.

Guru Nanak Jayanti 2022: History and Significance

Guru Nanak is regarded as the first Guru of Sikhism. At Talwandi Nankana Sahib, Guru Nanak Dev was born on April 15, 1469. Because of this, he is referred to as Nanak. He also laid the founding stone of Sikhism and that is why he is also called as the first guru.

Guru Nanak Dev married Sulakhni, a woman from the town of Lakhauki, when he was 16 years old. Srichand and Lakhmichand were his two sons. After the birth of his kids, Guru Nanak Dev is said to have embarked on a journey with his followers. He is said to have preached while he travelled through numerous nations, including India, Afghanistan, Persia, and Arabia. In Punjabi, these holy trips are known as “Udasiyan.”
