Gyanvapi Mosque case: A petitioner in the Varanasi Gyanvapi Mosque case has written to the President of India requesting euthanasia. Days after announcing her withdrawal from the case she wrote to the President following a reported dispute between the litigants.
Rakhi was one of the five women petitioners in the case demanding to allow Hindu prayers and rituals to be performed in the Gyanvapi mosque complex.
Rakhi pens letter
Narrating in detail how she was being harassed by the other four petitioners, Rakhi penned a letter seeking a response from the President by 9 am on June 9.
“I will wait for your reply till 9th June, 2023 at 9:00 am. If I do not receive any response from you, whatever decision will be taken thereafter will be my own,” she said in her letter to the President. Rakhi has written the letter in Hindi.
In the letter, she alleged that the four petitioners are trying to “defame her and her entire family in Hindu society”. “In May 2022, the above people spread a rumour against me as part of their false propaganda. They said Rakhi Singh is withdrawing from the case, while neither I, nor my uncle Jitendra Singh Visen ji had issued any such statement,” she wrote.
‘Hindu community has turned against me’
“The entire Hindu community has turned against me and my family because of this confusion. Many people from the government and administration are also involved in this propaganda,” she added, emphasizing that this has put both her and her uncle under mental pressure.
“I am deeply hurt because of this. Therefore, you are requested to grant me the permission for euthanasia and pave the way to get rid of this immense mental pain and agony,” Rakhi wrote at the end of her letter.
Rakhi’s uncle Jitendra Singh Visen, who was one of the main Hindu petitioners in the case, announced his family’s withdrawal from the case on Saturday, citing harassment.
“I and my family (wife Kiran Singh and niece Rakhi Singh) are withdrawing from all Gyanvapi-related cases that we had filed in the interest of the country and religion in various courts,” Visen was quoted as saying.
He said they lack the resources to “continue their battle for Dharma” and called the petition one of the biggest mistakes of his life.
