The court has postponed making a decision regarding carbon dating of a purported Shivling discovered in Varanasi’s Gyanvapi Masjid, which is close to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. The Hindu side’s attorney said that the court requested some clarity on this issue.
The court may render a decision after hearing the Muslim side’s answer. The case’s next hearing will now take place on October 11. The court will hear the Muslim side first on that day. A court order can only then be issued.
The Muslim side has referred to the location where the Shivling was located as a “Wuzukhana” in the affidavit, and they also want it to be clear if it is a fountain or a Shivling, according to the Hindu side’s attorney Vishnu Jain. The court has accepted the matter of investigation from the ASI.

“The court also asked us for clarification on two points. The court asked whether the structure found inside the Gyanvapi mosque is part of this suite property or not? Second, can the court set up a commission for scientific inquiry? We have submitted our reply,” Jain said.
“We said that it is part of our litigation property and on the basis of Order 26 Rule 10A of the CPC, the court is empowered to direct scientific investigation. The Muslim side has sought some time for a reply,” he added.
The matter will now come up for hearing in court on October 11.
