Krishna Janmashtami, or simply Janmashtami, is a Hindu festival commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna, a Lord Vishnu, one of the holy Hindu trinity’s three gods, and one of his most important and adored avatars. It will be observed this year on Monday, August 30.
Lord Krishna was Lord Vishnu’s eighth avatar, born in the Dvapara Yuga, according to Indian mythology. Janmashtami is a significant Hindu festival celebrated in India and around the world, and the day itself is considered extremely auspicious.
Krishna Janmashtami is marked on the eighth day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada (July-August) in India. People fast, chant mantras, do puja, celebrate the mandir on this auspicious day.
