Haryana Assembly Election 2024: Amid all this, with assembly elections in Haryana now only a fortnight away, scheduled to take place on October 5 for all 90 seats, the political waters are brewing as high-octane campaign activities pick up. The Congress party has launched its more detailed manifesto for the Haryana Assembly Election 2024, promising much.
Congress’s Vision for a Prosperous Haryana
At least on paper, the 40-page document contains some ambitious initiatives, beginning with a declaration of intent in the launch statement of Indira Ladli Behan Samman Yojana. If elected to power, Congress promises to provide women between 18 and 60 years with a benefit of Rs 2000 every month. This is but one step in the concentration that the party is giving to woman and her economic security.
At the same time, it has promised a strong support system for the farmers through the manifesto: pledging MSPs and establishing a Kisan Commission. That will go a long way in solving some of the dire issues pressing in farm circles by providing the farmer a safety net and additional support for sustainable production.
Addressing Health and Infrastructure Needs
Health care is another important area focused in the manifesto, where Congress promises coverage up to ₹25 lakh for treatment. It is an attempt to alleviate sufferings from families in Haryana at the hands of heavy burdens of health care costs in the pockets, especially in the wake of increasing cost of treating sickness.
Even the Congress party stressed much upon the infrastructure development, promising water supply from the Sutlej-Yamuna link, ending the water scarcity situation that for long has existed in this region, and special provision for traders, such as trade commission that will strengthen the business ecosystem in Haryana.
The 7 Guarantees for a Better Future
It provided its “7 guarantees” in Congress earlier this month: old-age pensions of ₹6,000 for the elderly, subsidized gas cylinders, and free electricity for families that consume up to 300 units, among others. These aim at strengthening social security and improving the quality of life among residents.
The elections are fast approaching. The Congress manifesto, therefore, serves as a roadmap that is holistic, attentive to the varied demands of the people of Haryana, while once again reiterating the party’s commitment toward inclusive governance.
