Congress Sees an Improvement in 2024 Compared to 2019

In the Haryana elections last in 2019, Congress had won 31 seats. Now, this year, sources indicate that the party is leading in 35 constituencies, which may be an improvement this time. But still, even though trends put the BJP ahead of the Congress, senior leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda remains confident. “We are going to form the government in Haryana,” he said, urging patience. “We are confident, not hopeful but certain, that Congress will form the government,” declared Congress MP Kumari Selja.

A total of 1031 contestants will be contesting for the 90 assembly seats in the 2024 Haryana elections. Approximately 93 counting centers have been set up, and massive security forces have been prepared to see to a smooth process. Exit Poll Fall Out Wrong in Lok Sabha Elections 2024

Once again, with the ongoing count, exit polls have returned to be an area of public expectation shaping. While exit polls generate tremendous excitement when results are not declared, the accuracy of exit polls has marked the recent elections. At least 12 exit polls in this year’s Lok Sabha election predicted a landslide victory for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and projected a figure ranging between 361 and 401 seats. However, the actual outcome delivered only 293 seats to the NDA and dumped it way short of expectations. The BJP itself managed only 240 seats-again failing to achieve a majority on its own, much more than its 2019 tally of 303. Congress-led INDIA bloc performed way above what expectations were, pocketing 235 seats and proving most exit polls wrong.

Chhattisgarh Assembly elections of 2023 and Lok Sabha elections in 2019

Exits polls again failed to deliver in the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections of 2023, as the BJP defied all pre-poll surveys by jumping to power with a win of 54 seats in the 90-member house where the Congress that has been ruling since 2018 after ending the 15-year rule of BJP’s Raman Singh, got ousted.

But not all exit polls are wrong. Most exit polls in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 were correct in predicting that BJP-led NDA would return to power. India Today-Axis My India had put it in the range of 339 and 365 seats to NDA. The final tally gave NDA 353 seats, BJP alone bagging 303 seats, and the United Progressive Alliance led by Congress bagged 90 seats, quite close to the exit polls.

Exit Poll Predictions Prove Unreliable Yet Again?

While the exit polls had predicted otherwise, the unpredictability of Indian elections – where public sentiment can swing dramatically – has been revealed once again. With the final verdict on the Haryana Assembly polls due to emerge today, it has been a tight battle between the BJP and Congress, with both hoping to win. The result is going to decide the fate of many influential leaders as well as a lot in respect to state politics. Since exit polls do not always come out to be true, all results would be known only after all votes have been counted.
