Haryana News: Gurugram authorities have issued a directive implementing stringent regulations regarding the storage, sale, and usage of firecrackers within the city in anticipation of the upcoming Diwali festival. These restrictions apply to all firecrackers except those classified as “green firecrackers.”
Authorities issue directive
According to the directive issued by Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav, these regulations will be enforced in Gurugram district starting from November 1, 2023 (Wednesday) and will remain in effect until January 31, 2024.
Furthermore, e-commerce giants such as Flipkart and Amazon have been expressly forbidden from accepting any online orders for firecrackers. The Deputy Commissioner, exercising his authority under Section 144 of the CrPC, has issued mandates in accordance with the Explosive Substances Act of 1884 and Explosive Substances Rules of 2008, pertaining to the manufacturing, storage, and sale of firecrackers within the district.
The order raid, “The responsibility of ensuring compliance with the rules has also been given to Gurugram Police, Municipal Corporation Gurugram and Municipal Corporation Manesar. Police station in-charge, Municipal Corporation officials, Block Development and Panchayat officers and Tehsildar will coordinate with each other in their respective areas and get these orders strictly implemented.”

The authorities overseeing the enforcement of these directives have been directed to submit daily reports on compliance to the Deputy Commissioner on a regular basis. Additionally, as outlined in the orders, the regional officers of the Pollution Control Board have been tasked with ongoing monitoring of air quality.
Furthermore, the use of green firecrackers will be permitted only during specific time slots: from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Diwali, and from 11:55 pm to 12:30 am during Christmas and New Year celebrations. Those who violate these orders will face legal action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
