The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction held its first national executive meeting on Tuesday, just days after receiving the party name and bow and arrow symbol from the Election Commission. Resolutions were put out at the meeting, one of which demanded Vinayak Damodar Savarkar be given the Bharat Ratna.
Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, chaired over the national executive meeting. Renaming Churchgate Railway Station after former Union Finance Minister Chintamanrao Deshmukh was another idea brought up at the meeting.
Other proposals discussed in the meeting are:
providing sons of the soil (Bhoomiputra) in the state with employment at a rate of 80%. In all the projects, local youth will get 80% of the jobs.
Marathi will be given the status of an elite language (abhijat).
Objective To offer the Marathi students of the MPSC and UPSC great support.
In addition, the Shiv Sena group led by Uddhav Thackeray has called for Savarkar to receive the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in India.

The Eknath Shinde faction was given the name Shiv Sena and the party’s bow and arrow symbol by the Indian Election Commission last week. This was a major setback for the Uddhav Thackeray faction, which had been battling for control of the party’s name and symbol since Shinde’s uprising the previous year.
