Kent, who was at the forefront of ‘Operation Sujaligala,’ laid down her life shielding her handler from the hail of bullets. The Public Relations Officer of the Indian Army in Jammu confirmed this heroic act through a statement.
During the encounter in the Narllah area of the Rajouri district, one terrorist and an army jawan lost their lives, while three other jawans, including a Special Police Officer (SPO), sustained injuries in the exchange of fire.
The encounter also led to the recovery of war-like stores, including an AK series assault rifle with magazines, during subsequent search operations.
This poignant incident underscores the unwavering commitment and sacrifices made by both human and canine members of the armed forces in maintaining peace and security in challenging regions. Kent’s valor serves as a poignant reminder of the dedication exhibited by military personnel and their loyal companions in the face of adversity.
