Predictions of exit poll
Exit polls had indicated that the BJP would win in Himachal Pradesh. The saffron party will continue the three-decade-old history of voting out the state’s current administration if the forecasts come true and the BJP takes back power.
The BJP obtained a majority of 44 seats in the 2017 assembly elections, while the Congress received 21, with one seat going to the CPI-M and two to Independents. Prem Kumar Dhumal, the BJP’s presumed chief minister, lost his seat, and Jairam Thakur assumed the role, ushering in a generational shift in the party’s leadership.
