It is getting cold in North India at this time. There are many areas in Himachal where intermittent snowfall continues. Due to heavy snowfall, the general public is facing many difficulties. Due to snowfall, traffic on 238 roads of the state was severely disrupted. 116 electric poles have been broken due to snowfall and 7 water schemes have been affected. Due to heavy snowfall, 162 roads in Lahaul-Spiti district, 46 in Chamba, 18 in Kullu, eight in Kinnaur, three in Mandi and one in Shimla were closed for traffic movement.
Due to snowfall, 79 power poles in Chamba, 4 in Kinnaur, 11 in Kullu, 9 in Lahaul-Spiti and 13 in Mandi broke down. Light snowfall occurred in Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti district, while the central and plains areas, including Shimla, remained cloudy with light drizzle.
The Western Disturbance will remain active for the next two days. Due to which there is a possibility of heavy rain and snowfall in the state. On January 11, the weather is expected to remain clear in the plains. The temperature has dropped significantly in this cold winter across the state. Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti district, recorded a minimum temperature of -9 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperature in Kinnaur’s Kalpa is -4.1 degrees, Manali zero, Shimla 3.2, Sundernagar 5.5, Bhuntar 5.2, Dharamsala 4.2, Una 8.6, Nahan 9.3, Palampur 6.5 degrees. 4.7 degree in Solan, 8.4 degree in Kangra, 7 degree in Mandi,9 degree Celsius has been recorded in Bilaspur, 8.8 degree in Hamirpur, 7.6 degree in Chamba, 1.5 degree in Dalhousie, -1 degree in Kufri, 5.6 degree in Jubbarhatti, 9.7 degree Celsius in Paonta Sahib.

Lahaul-Spiti Tourists who came to visit Lahaul-Spiti were stuck in the valley due to the Atal Tunnel road being closed for traffic due to snowfall on January 4 and 5. The Lahaul-Spiti administration started the work of evacuating these tourists from the valley on Friday. The Lahaul-Spiti administration and the BRO had restored the road to the valley for four by four vehicles.
90 tourists from outside states stranded in Lahaul-Spiti have been sent to Manali. These included 76 men, 8 women and 6 children. SP Lahul-Spiti Manav Verma told that all the tourists have been rescued and sent to Manali.
