In the midst of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Congress party appears to be under attack from all sides. A tweet by former Pakistani minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has caused an uproar. Fawad Hussain had shared a video of Rahul Gandhi on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) with the caption “Rahul on fire,” which has heated up the political atmosphere.
Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Remarks
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Rahul Gandhi. Speaking to the media, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Rahul Gandhi is quite popular in Pakistan. If there were elections in Pakistan and Rahul Gandhi contested, he would win by a huge margin. We cannot defeat Rahul Gandhi in Pakistan. Rahul Gandhi will certainly win in Pakistan. Whatever Pakistan wants, the opposite will happen in India.”
Yogi Adityanath Weighs In
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also reacted to former Pakistani minister Fawad Chaudhry’s “Rahul on fire” remark. He said, “The election is at its peak today. The enemies of the country are trying to create an environment against PM Modi… The country should see how Pakistan is trying to project Rahul Gandhi. The Pakistan government’s former minister who supported the Pulwama attack shamelessly, is now supporting Rahul Gandhi. This shows ‘Congress ka Hath, Desh ke Dushmano ke Sath’… If Congress gains success somewhere, then it makes Pakistan happy.”
Rashid Alvi’s Response
Congress leader Rashid Alvi, while speaking to ANI, said, “The statement by Fawad Chaudhry is done under pressure by Nawaz Sharif and his brother’s government. PM Modi has very good relations with Nawaz Sharif. This statement has come so that our Prime Minister can exploit it. BJP has relations (with Pakistan). Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi, or Sonia Gandhi never went to Pakistan…The people who want to take benefit from his (Fawad Chaudhry) statement have pressurized him.”
