A big news is coming about the age of marriage of women. It is known that the Union Cabinet has approved the proposal to increase the legal age of marriage for women in the country from 18 to 21 years.
Sources have told that a decision has been taken on this in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday. For this, the government will bring amendments in the existing laws.
It was first mentioned by PM Narendra Modi in his address from Red Fort on 15th August last year. He had said that to save daughters from malnutrition, it is necessary that they get married at the right time. At present the minimum age of marriage for men is 21 and for women is 18. Now the government will bring amendments in the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, Special Marriage Act and Hindu Marriage Act to give it a shape.
