Agnipath scheme: On Tuesday, March 28, aboard Indian Navy Ship (INS) Chilka, the passing out parade (POP) of the first batch of Agniveers hired under the Agnipath scheme was successfully held. This evening ceremony, which gets started after dusk, is the first of its type. Graduation of the nation’s first group of female sailors
The Indian Navy’s top officer hailed the occasion as historic because it saw the graduation of the nation’s first group of female sailors. “You all are starting a new chapter in the history of the Indian Navy. As the nation watches, our women sailors will provide inspiration to an entire generation of young women in the country”, the Navy’s top exec was quoted by ANI.

Meritorious Agniveers were also given medals and prizes at the ceremony
Cricket player Mithali Raj and Rajya Sabha MP PT Usha, a well-known former athlete, both attended the historic occasion. Meritorious Agniveers were also given medals and prizes at the ceremony. These Agniveers trained in Chilika Lake, Asia’s largest brackish water lake, before being assigned to frontline warships for sea training. 2,585 Agniveers, including 273 women, left INS Chilka today, according to the Indian Navy. The Agniveers are now officially graduates of every training centre in the nation.
