The political atmosphere in India is highly charged as the country is going through 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Political parties are aggressively attacking one another, leaving no stone unturned in their campaigning efforts. It is worth noting that the fifth phase of voting is scheduled for May 20, 2024, and the results will be declared on June 4th.
Amidst this intense political climate, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah engaged in a candid conversation with the news agency ANI, addressing various issues.
Amit Shah’s Bold Statement on Winning 400 Seats
During the interaction, Amit Shah was asked about the BJP’s plan if they fail to secure 272 seats, the minimum required for forming the government. In response, Shah confidently stated, “I don’t see any such possibilities. An army of 60 crore-strong beneficiaries are standing with PM Modi, they have no caste or age group…Those who have received all these benefits know Narendra Modi kya hain aur kyun 400 dena chahiye…”
Amit Shah on ‘Constitutional Changes’
Addressing concerns about potential constitutional changes, Amit Shah clarified, “Definitely not. We have had the majority to change the Constitution for the last 10 years…We never did it…Bahumat ka durupayog ka itihas meri party ka nahi hai. Bahumat ke durupayog ka itihas Indira Gandhi ke samay mein Congress ne kiya tha…”
“But yes, we want 400 seats because we want to bring stability to the politics of the country because we want to keep the country’s borders safe…How did we utilise our seats in 10 years? In abrogating Article 370, scrapping Triple Talaq building Ram Temple, bringing UCC…”
Amit Shah’s Stance on Reservations
Responding to recent speculations on social media regarding reservations, the Union Home Minister stated, “We have made it very clear…that as long as there is even one MP of the BJP, nobody can touch reservations for SC, ST and OBC in this country. There is no bigger supporter of SC, ST and OBC reservations than Narendra Modi.”
Amit Shah’s Retort to Foreign Media
Addressing the foreign media’s claim that the BJP is “throttling democracy by wanting 400 plus seats,” Amit Shah questioned, “Should the voters of the country vote as per the intent of the foreign media?…There is no interference. Anyone can say anything they want but the voters of India are mature enough. Let the counting happen, they (foreign media) will go on a holiday after that…”
