Human Trafficking Racket Busted by CBI, Sending Indians to Russia-Ukraine War zone Under False Pretext

CBI Human Trafficking

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has exposed a significant human trafficking network preying on young Indians. This network lured them with promises of high-paying jobs in Russia, only to send them to the dangerous warzone in Ukraine.

CBI Raids Conducted in Major Cities

Following the disturbing revelation, the CBI conducted searches across several Indian cities, including Delhi, Trivandrum, Mumbai, Ambala, Chandigarh, Madurai, and Chennai. The agency has also registered a First Information Report (FIR) against various visa consultancy firms and agents involved in this deceptive scheme.

Second Indian Casualty in Ukraine War

This development comes just a day after news broke about the death of Mohammed Afsan, a 30-year-old man from Hyderabad. Afsan was allegedly deceived into joining the Russian army and was subsequently killed in the ongoing conflict. Tragically, he is the second Indian to lose his life in the war.

Hope for Safe Return of Stranded Indians

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) previously issued a warning to Indian citizens regarding the dangers of travelling to Ukraine due to the ongoing war. They have also taken steps to address reports of Indian nationals being recruited for the Russian army. The MEA is actively working to ensure the safe return of approximately 20 Indians currently stranded in Russia.
