The viral video, shared by Gaurav Bhatia on X (formerly known as Twitter), shows a fiery exchange between him and Rajdeep Sardesai. In the clip, Gaurav Bhatia is seen strongly criticising Sardesai for what he described as personal remarks against him and senior leaders. He accompanied the video with a bold caption, “I STOOD !!! WOULD YOU? Disgusting behaviour by Rajdeep. Is India Today a platform for Modi bashing?”
Gaurav Bhatia made it clear that he would not tolerate any disrespect towards his party, the BJP, or its leader, Narendra Modi. He said, “I will always stand up to protect the dignity and respect of my party and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and will defend our values till my last breath.” He accused Rajdeep Sardesai of using the platform to target Modi, calling the discussion “distasteful” and full of “venom” against the PM.
Heated Debate Breaks out Between Gaurav Bhatia and Rajdeep Sardesai
In the viral video, the confrontation escalates as Gaurav Bhatia warns Rajdeep Sardesai not to use “Personal comments” when referring to senior BJP leaders, especially the Prime Minister. He further says, “Dare you say that again. I warn you, never ever make a personal comment about my leaders.” He continued, “How dare you suggest that this nation will become a nation of one leader, Modi ji? How?” To this, Rajdeep Sardesai replied, “It was just a question.”
The back-and-forth continued. Ultimately, the heated debate came to a point where India Today anchor Rahul Kanwal had to intervene. Despite his attempts to calm the situation, the argument only intensified, forcing Kanwal to end the debate.
One Nation, One Election Proposal Approved by Union Cabinet
The viral video was part of a bigger discussion about the “One Nation, One Election” proposal. This topic has become very important in Indian politics. On September 18, 2024, the Union Cabinet cleared the proposal. This came after a high-level committee, led by former President Ram Nath Kovind, made recommendations. According to media reports, the bill for holding simultaneous elections across the country is expected to be introduced in the upcoming winter session of Parliament.
