Tata Airbus has been entrusted with the responsibility of making the C-295 transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force. The company will manufacture these aircraft at its plant in Vadodara. This information was given by the army officers.
The Defense Ministry official said that it would be one of the completely indigenous ones. The aircraft made in India will be supplied from 2026 to 2031. The first 16 aircraft will arrive between 2023 and 2025.
The Indian Air Force will eventually become the largest operator of this C-295 transport aircraft.
The Defense Secretary said that there is no restriction on imports. The policy is that whatever can be made in India will be made here. A vigorous effort is being made to promote Make in India for the Defense Forces. Operational preparedness is not compromised and operational preparedness is at the forefront of our mind.
A spokesman of the Military Ministry said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of this plant to be built in Vadodara, Gujarat on October 30.
