IIM Bangalore: Man, once rejected, delivers speech as a guest speaker at the same college

IIM Bangalore: Success is supposedly achieved via endurance, hard effort, and determination. And Sharan Hegde, an influencer, convincingly demonstrated it in an Instagram post. In his essay, Sharan revealed that despite receiving a 98% on the CAT, he had given up on his goal of attending IIM Bangalore three years prior. Later, after preparing for US MBA programmes and getting into a prestigious US university, he dropped out to try his luck in content creation. He added that, rather than enrolling in IIM Bangalore as an MBA student, he had eventually been accepted as a guest speaker.

Sharan Hegde uploaded photos of himself at the IIMB

With a comprehensive explanation, Sharan Hegde uploaded photos of himself at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), his ideal university.  “98% in CAT. No entry, better luck next time you GEM. 3.3 Mn followers. Guest speaker to 100+ women entrepreneurs at IIMB,” he remarked in an Instagram post. Sharan also said that he stopped trying to get into IIM three years ago and the reasoning behind it. “3 years ago, I gave up on IIM, and now I am at IIM. As I stood on the stage with the mic in my sweaty palms, I had a big smile on my face. Why? Because until a year back, I thought my preparation for CAT was a waste of time,” Sharan continued.

“Life has come full circle, which makes me smile,” Sharan

The influencer said that his journey had been difficult because he had to balance his academics and internships, give monthly mock exams, and live on a stipend of 5,000 rupees in Bangalore’s Indiranagar. Despite receiving a 98%, he was still unable to enrol in his ideal college. He changed his attention to US MBA schools after that and was admitted to Columbia. I left that programme as well, and in the end I gave a damned talk at IIMB, the place I had originally intended to go. Life has come full circle, which makes me smile, he continued.

Sharan ended his post with a motivational saying. “Whatever happens, happens for good. You just need to know how to see it from a different perspective and make the best out of it. It’s your turn now. Let your hard work shine.”
